Cloud Peak
The mosquito population continuously increased as we reached Lake Helen. They were almost unbearable; swarming everywhere and forcing me to wear thick clothing in the blazing summer sun. We camped above Mistymoon Lake and headed out in the morning to Cloud Peak. We crossed more streams and the further we head up the mountain, the less ubiquitous the mosquitoes became. After a few hours some boulder hopping and scrambling, it began to snow lightly. Storm clouds moved in just as we reached the summit, still catching a last glimpse of the beautiful 360 degree views of the surrounding range. My dad made sure that my brother, him, and I stayed together and we made a quick escape down the mountain. After reaching the campsite, I told my dad how dizzy I had felt on the way up, again not ever revealing my weaknesses. Although I could have suffered from altitude sickness, I still felt the need to push on and made it to the summit and back safely. I slept soundly our tent and the next day we headed back to the car, having yet another successful adventure. Flattop MountainMedicine Bow Peak
